DIY PAINTED TERRACOTTA POTS

Here's something fun and relatively cheap for you to try. We picked up a variety of sized terracotta pots from our local garden centre. The prices ranged from £0.70 - £8.00 which was quite good for quality terracotta.

To do this DIY you will need a good paint to cover the pots. We decided to use Annie Sloane Chalk Paint in Old White. It can be watered down to get a good, even coverage.

Paint a few layers of paint on the pots and allow to dry, then using a good quality marker (we ended up using a COPIC rather than the SHARPIE we had intended. You will need to experiment what works best for you), draw out your patterns.

Personally, we love the really hand drawn look, so don't get too caught up in preciseness. Enjoy the process, and you'll end up with a graphic set of pots that will look fantastic grouped together.

  1. They are great! I particularly like the hand drawn look. The black and white brings the green in the plants out really pretty!
