MALAGA TO BARCELONA // THE END OF THE ROAD
The Alhambra, Granada |
Hi, Alice here. I am writing this as we have just arrived back in our little Paris flat after an amazing two weeks travelling around Spain.
It was both eye opening, and exhausting, where everyday it became imperative to see and do as much as possible. After leaving Seville, we arrived in Malaga (well, El Palo to be precise) where we stayed for 3 days very near to the beach. This was our most relaxed period during the trip. We went into Malaga centre only twice, and spent one whole afternoon at the beach relaxing and swimming.
During our time there we also took a day trip to Granada. (I know, I said it was relaxing). At Granada we visited the very famous Alhambra palace set up high above the town. The gardens were beautiful, and just a word to the wise, if you want to visit the palace book early, and give yourself a whole day to explore as it is very vast.
After Malaga we took a few cars to Valencia which brings me to quite a funny story. We found the flat relatively easily. So far, so good. We were then buzzed in to the building and told to get the lift to what I thought was meant to be the 3rd floor. Up we went, only to here the guy shout it's the 1st floor. Down we went, where we were greeted by Carlos and his partner Miguel Angel. They warmly invited us in and showed us to our room. It was spectacular. The whole apartment was over 100 square metres and so amazingly decorated, our jaws were on the floor. We spent 20 mins chatting and then headed to our room to unpack. We sorted out the WIFI, and were just getting comfy when the bell for the apartment rang again. It was another airbnb couple. We all stared at each other in bemusement. It turned out we were in the wrong apartment! How utterly mortifying!.
Our room was two floors up in the same block, so we meekly gathered our things and slunk out feeling a little gutted we weren't staying there. The flat upstairs though, was, thankfully, just as beautiful with the same layout and fantastic space and light. Major apartment envy!
One night spent in Valencia led us two our final destination, Barcelona, where we stayed for one night and a few hours in the morning before we had to catch a car to France. It's been a whirlwind of a trip and Aurelien is already planning our next one. I need a foot massage before we go anywhere again.
